About The Board Racer Special

The Cosgrove Ball Board Race Special is a chrome frame bike, bespoke hand crafted bicycle with traditional old fashioned vintage retro elegance of individual design. A custom hand built urban cruiser and a modern classic fashion led bicycle designed with old school steel lugs. Cool, good looking with a brown leather Brooks saddle, it is a piece of art and design with it’s luxury and is beautiful looks. It sports a unique gear stick, this is a iconic prototype built with quality, a UK British built limited edition, funky with individuality and hub gears.The Cosgrove Ball Board Racer was born from artist and designer Edward Ball wanting to rekindle the passion for cycling that he held in his youth. He started looking for his perfect bike but just couldn’t find it. Wanting something that would stand out he decided to set about an 18 month research and development mission to shape his perfect ride. 

The bike has been heavily influenced by the board track racers of the late 1920. This was a type of motor sport popular in the USA for over a decade. These great looking motorcycles had evocative lines, dropped handle bars and a race engineered look that was quite intoxicating.  This made a direct connection with Edward’s vision for the perfect modern classic bicycle, a beautiful blur between art and design with the engineering grace and elegance of an iconic classic. 

This is as much an art project as it is bike design. The Board Racer is designed to be admired as a central art installation as much as it is a bike. You can ride it but if you want to keep it as a pristine piece of installation art on your wall, no one will argue. 

The final creation will be a limited edition complete with photographic design history and signed documentation by the artist himself.
